About Rose Wenkel
Born and raised in New York City, I have lived in seven states and traveled extensively. North Carolina became home in 1972 where my husband and I raised two children and now have five grandchildren and three beautiful great-grandchildren.
After instructing oil and watercolor for a local craft shop for several years I decided to go back to school and earned an Associates Degree in Graphic Design. Running an advertising agency for ten years became my life's work. Upon retiring I went back to my paints and brushes once more, giving me an outlet for the many more years of creative thinking still unexplored. Brush-up classes at the local community college shortly lead to becoming an instructor for mixed media adult classes.
Often drawing from the many inspiring sights and experiences in my life shows in the diversity of subjects, while the bright colors reflect spirit and personality. Although primarily an oil painter, I often switch to watercolors and like to experiment with mixed media, finding new way to express ideas in art.
My art has recently been introduced to the international art world when a vacationing Barrister to the English Crown, was taken by one of my original abstracts as well as the inspiration for the painting. I find fun and excitement in creating works of art and having others appreciate my work is more then I could ask for.
